Derailing anecdote: when I was in high school, I, like many others, kept getting calls from recruiters. Well, at the time, I was quite against joining the military and didn't want to hear the recruiting schpeel. So, they would call, and I would hang up, usually once they introduced themselves. Rude, yes, but what teenager isn't rude in some way? In any case, one day, I get a call from a recruiter (and this is after like three months of not getting any calls) and he does his thing and I hang up on him. So, then, he calls me back and he's all, "Your welcome for your freedom!" and he hangs up on me.

Well, the other day, my mom tells me that he apparently called her and told her that I was being rude. And she was all, "Well, I think it's rude that you keep calling him when he's made it clear he doesn't want to be called." And the guy was all, "That's not very patriotic, ma'am." And she responded, "Neither is calling me for the actions of my adult son."

I found it all rather amusing. Others might not. But still, I think it's a neat little story.
