I think the worse deal is the examples given of government mismanagement, rationing, and selective application. Im told, and granted this is here say, but Im told that in Canada if you are a government official or a media person you dont have to wait in line like everyone else. Remember the part about no information in English in the smaller health care facilities in Quebec?

I would like to point out that I found and read that link after I made my post about health care. It was quite coincidental in fact. I was visiting the site to sign up for Imprimis and that was the first page that matched my query.

Consider this: When the Republicans tell me they are for tax cuts it means almost nothing to me. It is just boob bate in my opinion. Im concerned about spending. Specifically Im concerned about waste, fraud, and bribery. The most dangerous is bribery.

The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the publics money.

Tocqueville.

It is the capacity of the government to take by force and coerce by consensus that puts all democracies at risk. The government cannot spend your money better than you. It isnt smarter than you, it isnt better than you, it isnt nicer than you. It is an entity that if not given to service will bloat with power.

Think about this. Where do you have a say about the quality of service you are given? Is it at the post office? Is it at the tax office? Is it at the courthouse? No. It is at Wendys. It is at Wal Mart, the gas station, the furniture store.

Monopolies are evil. Do you remember dealing with the Ma Bell before the break up? It was kind of like dealing with your utility company at present. You have no say. You cannot take your business elsewhere. The capacity for individuals to make individual decisions gives us superior service. The failure of the health care industry is in not being competitive. The failure of the public is in wasting money on unnecessary health care usage. Medicare and health insurance have made it possible for some to waste in excess while others nearly go without. To remedy this we have forced the hospitals to charge others for misuse by paupers. And this insanity is actually better than what the government would do. But, perhaps not enough better for the case to be made.

Remember the crusade against the HMOs. The irony is that government health care is an HMO! It almost makes you want to laugh. Were I not to be effected I would.
