Until there is a fundamental change in the way people think about these two issues, the political parties will continue to play the game of bribing the american public with our own money.

Exactly right! It is the waste and fraud, and the bribery. The irony is that the voters they bribe end up getting scrooged.

I guess you think it's inherent in some "liberal" policies?

Nope, it is inherent in establishment policies. The liberals are just more honest about it.

Like an economic "stimulus" package that centers around mailing out tax rebate checks?

I dont like it. My response to that is, Dont piss down my neck and tell me its raining.

I won't argue for the tax office or the courthouse, but I love the USPS.

Which one of those three has competition? Cough FedEx cough UPS cough DAHL

And Wendy's (or in my case, Taco Bell) screws up my order regularly.

Ah, but you have options. If you want your order prepared a certain way, pay for it. If you want cheap food made by kids, you have that option.

No one knows a damn thing about the products at Wal-Mart

Then shop at a place that pays people to know things. You have options.

there's no service at ALL at gas stations

Ah, but if you need gas, smokes, and a pop, and you have 10 minutes to get it and get on down the road, the gas station is the place to go. You do have options.

I'm boycotting Mor Furniture because they advertise once-in-a-lifetime sales twice a week.

Good for you. I dont shop at places like that since I would rather have an old well made piece of furniture than a new piece of crap. I have options.

All I'm saying is that private businesses can be as corrupt or more corrupt than government agencies providing the same service, and many governmental agencies are just fine or even GOOD.

Keeping in mind that you have lost the Post Office option, cause I declare it so, feel free to list the many good government agencies that have on private competition.

I don't think anyone who reads these boards makes nearly enough money to have any say in the quality of service they receive from Wal-Mart.

I too am uneasy about the monopolistic aspect of the Wal-Mart empire. There is still competition, but Wal-Mart has some serious issues with its suppliers. They have way too much control. But, the pluses are strong too. They increase the standard of living for rural areas, a much needed service. They take good care of their employees compared to other businesses who would hire the same employees. There is good and bad in them. And I think someone will come along and outdo them someday. Either that or the Chinese will call in their chips and it will be renamed China-Mart.
