No, I'm saying you have to take a job for what it is, not for what it should be. I will grant that it can be and has been bad. But a strong look at societies suggests that the effect (poverty and the plight of the labor class) are more a function of the developmental state of a society and its government than of inherent greed and avarice among the population. Societies are funny things. They look one way at first glance, but when compared alongside other societies in proper developmental context (societal development, not temporal position), things make quite a bit more sense. Yes, life is awful for the majority of the planet. It remains though that there is little I can do about it. My best bet is conducting myself as a moral creature.

Giving someone a handout is a gross insult to them. If they are desperate then their capacity to tolerate insult is greatly increased. Some people naturally are able to tolerate insult. But the majority of people want to see consequences of work. It is a natural thing. Without the drive to succeed there is no possibility of life and training people to tolerate insult will not increase that drive..

The poor in this country, with few exceptions, live a good life. To assume that everyone is equally deserving of luxuries is wrong to the point of socioeconomic suicide. It is like thermodynamics. There is always waste in an energy system, ergo, there is no perfect engine. It is the same with socioeconomic systems, there is always waste. That waste is realized in the form of those who refuse to the point of dereliction to partake in the benefits of that society.

However, in a society such as ours there is no excuse for all but a fraction not having adequate sustenance. Ill grant that. But the problem rises when we are told that we arent living in exactly that situation. We cannot allow the establishment power nodes to make the perfect the enemy of the good.
