I wanted to add something else before I go to bed and get ready for another arduous work week (we may be getting as much done but the two of us still are doing the work of 4 people).

I really do sympathize with the kids these days. They are up against quite a bit. The environment is literally psychologically toxic. The certainties that we knew as kids are in many cases gone. And regardless whether or not these certainties are fiction or not, they matter to the mind and to the development of an individual. Kids these days, in many cases, have no nation, no history to believe in, no traditions to guide them, and a poor parenting base from which to launch.

My generation, the Jonesers, and the Boomers, were too selfish to raise our kids. That is the long and the short of it. And the kids were left to fend for themselves in a world full of predators. Now they are in college and even the colleges prey upon them. The student loan scam and its use by the universities to drive this generation into slavery is reprehensible in my opinion. The degrees they give are almost nothing more than right-to-work permits. Many of these kids would do just as well getting on-the-job-training. They are left with an investment that was for my generation our first house and unlike that house, no guarantee that it is of any value.

So, when we ask them to work hard, in many cases they have every right to ask us, For what?

Joel.
