Another thing I have noticed in these smaller cities is there is a lot of nepotism, which is understandable I guess. You have a lot of family run businesses around here and pretty much all of them are going to put their kids in somewhere. So when Billy bob is working his @#%$ off trying to make 7 bucks an hour then gets to listen to his friend go on about how his dad pays him 15 an hour filling out forms on the computer it would probably wear a little thin.

Worked at a family-run restaurant for about a year. My first job, actually. Was a buser. Never will again. Best example I can think of was about 8-9 months through that year, their son (who somehow also was our boss, along with the wife and father, who were the owners) had his wedding. One night, the wife came into the back and told (not asked) me that everyone would be catering the wedding. Nevermind the fact that the restaurant didn't cater. Furthermore, it was on a day that I normally would have had off. Didn't get paid by hour either. When it was over, I got a $100 check for about a 10-12 hour workday. Red flag shoulda went up there, but it wasn't until a few months later, when they hired a classmate of mine who was the biggest arse-kisser I've ever met, that I quit. Once he got on, suddenly I was getting in trouble for newbie mistakes I hadn't made in months. I got a very perverse joy when they went out of business not even six months after I left. ::cackles:: Moral of the story: nepotism is BAD!
