I like the actors more than the actual character, and which team they batted for never really entered into my mind. It's an interesting note to add to the characters profile though.

If you read the books, or are even remotely interested in the characters you would see how Dumbledores past love life, not just past, would play a greater role in all the decisions he would make later on. It does connect a few dots, although it is not necessary to the books plot. It could have been a partial reason as to why he never took the post of Minister of Magic. What dean of a privately funded prominent school wants his sexual history bandied about? Not to mention all the dirt that would have been dug up between Dumbledore and Grendelwald (Which was later exploited by Rita Skeeter) On that note I wouldn't be surprised if Rowling had plans to "release" Rita Skeeters book.

So for Sen my argument would be this:
Why would anyone care about Harry's sexual orientation? Granted he is the one the books are named after, but there are many fleshed out characters in the book. Why single out just his interests? Which wasn't done. It branches out into many MANY characters love lifes (Lupin and Tonks for example) It doesn't matter one bit to me who likes who. There is a point made to include all the teen angst and straight love drama (Look how much stupid attention "Harry's First Kiss" in the movie garnered.) All of that just opened the "book" for relationships out side the "typical."

Actually I think it would be better to say that because Rowling had written so much about the love interest in all the various characters why wouldn't someone as influential to Harry's life and future be included in that?

I say all is fair in love and war. Someone asked a question about Dumbledores past and Rowling answered. No big deal to me =D She's not the one writing press releases about it. She's just the one that has to dodge the bullet after the word came out.
