Second, don't those races have more hit points and can't they carry heavier (higher percentage) armor?

Bigger races definitely have more hit points, but it is a bit more complex than that. First, Oogs/thugs have the most hit points, but, currently, pents, arachs, drakes and monitanians will survive a similar (or greater) amount of punishment because of BA.

Second, high hit points are very useful during small PVP situations. During hunting or large PVP situations 'how much damage you are actually taking' far outshadows 'how many HPs you have'.

To illustrate, a big guy may outlast a little guy if they are taking the same amount of damage, but most people hunt in places where they are taking negligible amounts of damage. Big races don't have this option.

Personally I like this because (in theory) it makes it so you don't really want to mess with a big guy, but if you grab a few of your friends the big guy goes down pretty fast. It's a give and take thing and, I think, adds variety.

I'm not really sure about smaller guys wearing thin armor. Except for my psycian hand cleric, every character I've ever played could wear the thickest available armor (i.e. all my mages could wear morbius and all melee-types could wear steel).

I know hithuals make a killing on armor vs. weight because their armor weighs less than normal (human) size and they can carry a lot. Thugs on the other hand have less carry than Oogs and heavier armor (though I think they still have enough carrying capacity to wear thick armor and pick up loads of boxes).

Actually, my Oog tends to wear thinner armor because he makes less money than high DR folks (can't buy as much) and gets hit more (need to repair/replace more often).

I guess no one but the elders really know what it'll be like after the changes, but speculation is still fun.
