You did it right, except you picked that they would win by more than 17.5 points.

You bet on the point spread, meaning the team you picked has to win by at least as many points as what the spread is. You picked the Raptors and 17.5 points. The final score was Miami Heat 75 and the Raptors 91, thats only 16 points difference so they didnt cover the spread. The Raptors won the game but you lost the bet.

Right now you are betting on the Timberwolves +7, that means the Timberwolves just have to be within 7 points for you to win your bet. For example, If the final score turns out to be Detroit Pistons 105 and the Timberwolves 100, you'd win the bet even though the Timberwolves lost the game because you were within 7 points.

Ok...so, The negative means you subtract that from your teams final score and the positive means you add that to your teams final score. The negative indicates that, that team is the favorite to win.

Their is also a moneyline bet. Thats the next column over. The money line is just a straight up win/loss bet with no point spread. However not all games offer a money line betting option.

The third column is the totals or the over/under. You'll see for example a 201, then an o and u. Thats means, you can either pick the point total between both teams will end up being over or under 201. If you picked over and the final score was 99-100 you'd lose because that comes to only 199. However if the final score was 105-100 you'd win on the over because that adds up to 205.

You can bet on more than one game at a time too and thats a parley bet. A parley is harder to win because all the teams you pick have to be correct. The payoff for a parley is a lot higher though. The most you can do is a 5 team parley.

I hope that helps and its not to confusing to read.
