The Republicanmajority congress before the current one didn't get anything done either. Ah, don't you love partisanship. Congress can't get anything done no matter which party is in the majority because the other side blocks anything they want to get done so they'll look like failures. Newsflash! Congress is predominately made up of career politicians who are interested in furthering their careers, not in the good of the nation. Yeah, once in a while a fresh face comes in who is genuinely interested in making the country better, but a few years in congress will take that innocense away and they end up just like the rest of them. Politicians have always been a dirty lot. Republicans. Democrats. All of them. When the counrty was founded congress wasn't a 'career'. It was made up of farmers, doctors, merchants, etc., who had REAL jobs and only went to meet when congress was in session. The rest of the time, they stayed in their respective towns and actually WORKED for a living. Almost none of those fat cats in Washington do anything besides collect huge salaries (that they set themselves!) and spend our money on a lot of things we don't need. I'd really love to be able to set my own salary too!

In response to the original post by Joel, it's really a question of which came first: the chicken or the egg. Are they the poorest cities because they have a democratic mayor or do they vote democrat because their city is poor? As the former debate captain of my school, I promise you, you can find correlation and supporting evidence for almost anything.

Dammit. I went and ate the bunny:( image
