"And just for the record, less than 1% of Americans change the economic class they are born into. "

I would like to see the study for those stats. Could you show it to me? (provide a link) I wonder what they mean by class? I know significant numbers of people who came from poor backgrounds -- though I do not have numbers as I don't tally them up as I go -- who now would be considered upper middle class, whatever that means (they are well off). Perhaps I just see the fortunate few, but somehow I doubt it, I don't think of myself as some center of wealth that draws other wealthy people to me.

As someone who does numbers for a living I would be curious as to what the parameters are. I am not saying it's untrue, but I would be curious to see what the datasets are and how the questions were asked. Many times I have seen over the past when people study something like that they go into it with an idea already set in their mind and they find the data that agrees with it.

Anyway it's a curious stat.
