I have to say here that the minimum wage is not the 'teenager' or entry level wage. It is, in fact, the wage that a lot of handicapped people are forced to live on. My sister, who has been profoundly deaf since birth, but Is highly intelligent and has a college degree, is forced to work for minimum wage because no one will hire her. She gives baths to the elderly in their homes. Before that, she emptied bedpans in a nursing home.
Not that there's anything wrong with those jobs. It's just that you would expect that someone with a degree in developmental child psychology would be able to get a better job. Except that no one wants to hire a deaf person. She had a job at Baushe & Lomb working in their factory when she lived here in San Antonio, where a lot of other deaf people worked. They hired a lot of deaf people because the noise from the huge machines didn't bother them, but again, minimum wage.
At least she doesn't hand out keychains at the airport, begging for money. She works and she works hard. It's just not enough to raise 3 kids on.

Dammit. I went and ate the bunny:( image
