We are the ones who decide who gets elected I can't think of anything else better to invest in than our people.

Do you really believe that once we elect someone, even if the person the majority wants is actually the one that gets the job in the end, that the person we elected gives two shits about the American people? They are still a politician, the only ones they care about are the special interest groups who got them there and the ones that can further their career while leaking money to them. Ever politician is the same since Roman times. Politics is corruption in the most basic sense.

UHC is not the answer. If you want to truly fix the problem with medical coverage and health care you have to start by limiting what a company or hospital can charge for it's goods and services. If you put an affordable cap on the costs of percriptions and what doctors and hospitals can charge then you have effectively made healthcare affordable. Hospitals are the only big businesses, besides governments, that competition does not equate to lower prices and better care in a free market economy. Hospitals are run by businessmen not doctors. Do you know why? Because they are a business, and as such, are only out to make money. Your level of care is much farther down the list of priorities for them. If you were to add UHC to this broken, over-priced system that we have now then you are just asking to put our government officials...who can't even see that flooding the economy with easy-to-get home loans carrying adjustable interest rates that will ensure people cannot afford them in 3 years, who base an economy on the made up, inflated numbers of the stock market...then you are asking for the complete and total downfall of this country. We are already having a hard time trusting anything that our government says, it's a short jump to losing complete faith in the ability of our government to fonction at all...which in all honesty appears to use the "fake it till you make it" approach.

You know, in history there has never been this problem of healthcare. In the past it was nothing short of population control. If you could afford it you lived, if not you died. Our own cleverness is what is costing us, not the care itself. People found out that other people will pay anything just to be able to live. Since then we have doctors making 6 figures right out of school. The only thing more absured is what we pay people who entertain us. Dance monkey, dance...here's a few million.
