Citizens of Aradath, of every station and profession, I come to you not as the ruler of Emjedah but as a fellow citizen whom has become concerned with the way the winds of fate are blowing. It began with heinous attacks against the outposts of the High Race, continuing with the assassination attempt against my father and came to everyones attention with the destruction of Edgewater. Even more recently my Sister was attacked by minions of this mysterious enemy as have many whom I call friends. I believe even I was beset by a minion of this enemyand I now come to you in an attempt to offer sound reason in the name of survival.
This continent is weak. Treehaven is secluded and often so concerned with past threats and actions that it is unable to truly prepare for the threats of today. The ruler-ship of Rathan, while often well intentioned and reasonable, has begun to separate itself from its citizenry, becoming distant and uninterested with its citizens. Emjedah is seen through a lens of prejudice that isolates it from those it wishes to aid and is as effectively isolated from the surrounding world as if it were the ancient city of Aerdsyl, hidden away by enchantment. Smaller cities about the continent such as Meetpoint and the tragic Edgewater foolishly look to a selfish and slovenly giant, whom has grown fat from years of corruption, for protection. Finally, there is the giantI of course refer to the Spur. Spur has been, and remains, the greatest threat to Aradathian security and prosperity simply because of the monopoly it uses to choke every last ounce of profit from the continentonly to then turn about and loose most of its gains through indifference and corruption. I personally, and the Emjedahi government collectively, have decided that it is time to take action. Effective immediately the Emjedah military is offering protection to independent cities throughout the continentand to those whom wish to win independence from Spurian Hegemony. I include Emjedahs former foe in this call as well as our current allies. I personally shall meet with Treehaven and Rathanian representatives and shall negotiate in good faith to reach an equitable compromise so as to meet this threat together. I shall bring the promise of true concession to the table, so long as I am met in kind.
With the mysterious enemy about, destroying cities and assassinating individuals we must all stand unitedand Spur has proven that at best it is a bumbling failure at meeting this threat and at worst, all or part of the current Spurian government is behind the threat. With this in mind I make a call to the Spurian populace. Stand up and speak out. Your advisory council seems a set of willing and able persons whom only need an honest and capable leadernot the cursed Merlin whom is rarely if ever seen and has proven time and again to care little or nothing for those whom he is charged to protect! It boggles the mind that such a corrupt and inept personage has remained in power for so long.
Finally, I call upon Merlin himself. Recognize your failure! Accept your limitations! Those of Spur and indeed of Aradath shall no longer suffer under your tyranny. Stand aside, or stand before those whom you were charged to protect and be judged! I, as one born to the role of ruler, am appalled by your conduct and can no longer watch as your callus self interest leads your city and this continent into ruin! Meet me in the forum of public judgment; defend your actions and inactions. Be seen for what you truly are, and allow the festering and diseased body that is Spur to be cleansed and reborn, to return to a state of strength and honor!
