I know there are a few Harry Potter fans out there. I was kind of surprised to read that Rowlings outed Dumbledore. I'm not sure I understand why she did it or if it was really necessary. I can't see it as being more than her taking an attempt to be politcally correct and trendy in teaching our children a lesson about acceptance. I'm all for teaching values and tolerance, but why as an afterthought? I never really thought or cared about the headmaster's sexual orientation. I never really fantasized bout his love life or cared about it. Unless I missed some underlying plot about his sexuality- why did she do it? Publicity? Publicity as a motive would be ridiculous though, because the books don't need it.
Thoughts? I guess I am missing the point. Is it a noble attempt to be accepting? Or is to stir the pot, because many Christian groups already didn't like the books.
